Review of Naked in Public on Psychology Today website, "Love and Sex in the Digital Age" column

Review excerpt: "Throughout Naked in Public, Sprout writes with an open, honest, and highly compassionate voice...the most important aspect of Naked in Public is that it presents a very real and much needed look at the pain and darkness of female sexual compulsivity, coupled with an equally real and necessary message of hope. Staci Sprout’s story is proof positive that recovery, healing, and a better life are possible." READ FULL REVIEW HERE

Review by Jenny TeGrotenhuis LMHC, Gottman Couple Therapist, Lifespan Integration Therapist

I want to commend our colleague Staci Sprout, LICSW, CSAT for the publication of her riveting book, Naked In Public: A Memoir Of Recovery From Sex Addiction and Other Temporary Insanities

She has not only written an amazing book that I believe will benefit everyone who reads it, but she has documented with integrity and simple clarity her own experiences with addiction from the perspectives of each of her developmental stages from childhood through the present. While this is a fascinating and discerning look into sex addiction, it is beneficial for anyone interested in any sort of transformative work, whether or not one is specifically interested in sex addiction.  Reading her memoir is entering into the healing timeline work itself. We know from interpersonal neurobiology that the brain changes from stories. I believe the readers of Staci’s story will be empowered to pursue, on some level, their own healing.

Even though Lifespan Integration (LI) as a therapy is only discussed in one chapter, it is clear that Staci's LI work has informed the entire book.

Her recovery through 12 step work is beautifully illustrated.  Her writing style is clear and succinct.  The story moves quickly.  I have not personally met her, yet I can attest that Staci is an endearing, genuine presence throughout this book.  I think you will not only thoroughly enjoy this for yourselves, but you will want to recommend it to others who are on any sort of healing journey. We all need stories of transformation like this one to model and empower for change!
